The Last Three Months + Review of Mecha Uma

Everyone's been so engrossed with Instagram that we've forgotten about other mediums such as writing. I'm guilty of this. I always say how much I love writing yet I don't do anything about it. So here's to being more proactive. It's been quite a while since I've written here, as in really expressed emotions. Enough about travel itineraries, sponsored posts and outfits, I'm going to update with what's really going on with my life. (Even if you never asked!)

1. I'm 26 years old!

I turned 26 last April 5. I didn't throw a big party or anything. Jacob and I just had a 10-course dinner in Mecha Uma. We've been wanting to eat there since last year but we wanted to reserve it for a special occasion since it wasn't cheap. It's Php5,000 per head for their omakase. You also have the option to order ala carte but we chose omakase because it reminded us of our trip to Tokyo last year. Omakase is when the chef chooses what to serve you. There's no menu to choose from. I would recommend this for those of you who love Japanese food with a twist. It was worth every peso.

Here are the dishes:

1st Dish: Crispy Taco with Soft Boiled Egg
What a powerful first dish. I savored every bite.
2nd Dish: Wagyu Cheek
Just as tender as the wagyu in Tokyo. It melts in your mouth.

Fried Oyster and Black Cod Fish
The main course which was DELICIOUS!

It was a simple celebration. I don't feel any different from being 25 except for the fact that it's dawned on me that I'm officially closer to 30 years old than 20 years old. It's kind of a scary thought but we're all getting older.

My Thoughts: I'm not adventurous when it comes to seafood. I really don't like it when there's a fishy after taste or some just taste too strong for my palette. I always just order what I'm familiar with i.e. shrimp, scallops, or oysters. Uni is probably the most daring thing I order already (which isn't even intense) In Tokyo when we had omakase, there were a lot of dishes I skipped out on and just gave to Jacob to eat. My stomach can't handle so many raw dishes in one sitting but I loved our experience in Mecha Uma because it wasn't overpowering at all. Yes there were some dishes that I wouldn't consider eating on my own (like that big piece of raw squid) but since there was a balance of raw and fried dishes, it made an amazing experience. I wouldn't mind saving up and going back to eat there. They switch it up regularly so you never know what to expect.

2. I just got back from a 3-week trip to Europe with Jacob. This was the longest trip we've ever gone on. It was Jacob's first time in Europe so we made sure to make it a trip to remember! I'll share in details in my next blog posts.

3. My phone and wallet got stolen in our said trip which is also why I haven't been active on social media. I've been busy doing errands i.e. bank, paying bills, and trying to get back all the content I lost that was in my phone.

4. Aside from my Eurotrip, I've been travelling more. I recently went to Boracay, Balesin, and Hong Kong too!

5. I've been focusing more on strength training and less cardio. I do one-on-one training with Coach Gerard and barre classes at Physique 57. My schedule every week is MWF in Physique57 and TS with Coach Gerard. Thursdays and Sundays are usually my rest days.

6. I'm still in love with my animals. Bunny is now 8 years old and Blue is 2 years old.

7. I've been trying to work on my YouTube channel but it's been tough. Writing has always been my preference but the trend now is to transition into videos which I suck at. I'm still awkward talking in front of the camera but I really want to learn and improve so I will keep trying. Wish me luck!
P.S. Shameless plug but you can SUBSCRIBE to my YouTube Channel here.

8. I'm writing this at 2AM because I'm still get jet lagged. My body clock has been pretty messed up.  I get a headache in the morning because I lack sleep but when I try to go to bed early, I end up falling asleep for a couple of hours then wake up in the middle of the night.

Enough about me. Next blog post will be back to business!
