"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page."
Toby and I have have been travelling around the Philippines and the rest of the world throughout our whole relationship. We've been to Bohol, Cebu, Biliran, Hong Kong, and so many other places together. For our 2nd year anniversary, we celebrated in Taipei, Taiwan. Our goal is to see the world one country at a time. Travelling is one of the ways we bond as a couple. I believe that it has really made us stronger. Each trip played an important role in where we are in our relationship today.
1. You learn new things about each other.
Travelling brings out a different side of the person. When Toby and I started dating, he had no idea that I was obsessive compulsive when it came to details. It was only during our first trip together that he learned this. I had a folder where I neatly organized all of my notes from the itinerary, tickets, documents, places to eat and also spots to take photos in.
It doesn't matter if you're newly dating or if you've been married for a decade, every time you travel you learn at least one new thing about the other.
2. You share priceless memories together.
Travelling isn't cheap. If it were, I'd never be home! But what makes people save all their money just to travel is because what you get from the experience is priceless. I remember the very first time I saw the Eiffel Tower. I sat down on the grass and admired how beautiful it was. The only thing that was missing was someone to share that moment with.
3. You appreciate each other more.
I'm going to be honest--- it isn't all rainbows and butterflies. Toby and I would always get into a disagreement whenever we travel. I'm always in a rush while he takes forever to move. The same goes for my parents. Whenever we're abroad, my parents would argue on where to eat and small petty things like that. But at the end of the day, none of that matters. All you will remember will be the good times that you shared.
4. You will have the time of your lives.
When you're comfortable around each other, sometimes the excitement dies down. You get used watching movies, eating out and the occasional trips to the mall. Travelling will sure do the trick to bring back the fun in your relationship!

5. You will understand each other better.
This goes hand-in-hand with #1. When you learn new things about your significant other, this will also help you understand him/her better.
After the countless of trips Toby and I have had together, he's come to realize that the reason why I like planning everything down to the smallest detail is because I like to maximize my time while he prefers going with the flow because he likes spontaneity.
