Balancing Act

By profession, I have two jobs. I'm an event specialist slash lifestyle blogger. It has been tough juggling both and at the same time and having time for my family, friends, Toby and myself. As much as I love my job/s, I NEED my time. Working 24/7 isn't healthy. When you're tired, you produce mediocre work but when you get sufficient rest, you have the energy to perform at your best. Here are a few tips that I've learned that helps me balance work and still have a life.

1. Make A Checklist
As much as I want to go with the flow and just wing it, I cannot afford to. I end up forgetting a couple of the things that I have to do. I don't exactly have the best memory. I start my day by making a checklist of everything that I have to do. If I finish early, then I have time to do everything else. (i.e. catch up on my shows, go out with friends, have dinner with my boyfriend, etc.) Finish everything first. Don't say "I'll finish it tomorrow." Honestly, we both know that you probably won't.

2.  Follow The Schedule
We only have 24 hours in a day. We spend almost half of that time sleeping. The hours of the day that we are awake have to count! Try organising everything you have to do in order. I make sure to spend an hour everyday for my blog, go to the gym everyday other day, and take blog photos at least thrice a week. With that in mind, I plan all my other activities around that schedule.

3. Take A Break
It's obvious that I love to travel. It doesn't have to be out of town or out of the country. I'm good enough with going somewhere nearby where I can dive into the unfamiliar. Even discovering a new restaurant makes me happy already. It's just good to be somewhere fresh to take a break from your life.

4. It's OK to Ask for Help
Sometimes we get stuck. We can't do everything on our own. Even the smartest people need a helping hand. Save yourself the time and don't be afraid to ask when you need something. It doesn't make you less of a person, it makes you human.

5. Routines are boring
When you've been doing the same thing for quite a while it gets tedious. Our bodies start to feel like machines. Switch up your normal tasks by adding some oomph into it. I like to play music while I'm working or if I usually go to the gym at night, I try and go in the morning instead. That way I get to push myself too.

Remember to create a life you don't want to escape from.
