Where to Stay in Coron: Coron Underwater Garden Resort

A month after my trip to El Nido, I went back to Palawan but this time, to the town of Coron. My girlfriends and I love going to the beach. We went to Zambales together last January (I wrote about it here) and we've been trying to plan a second trip before the year ends. Our friend Carlo recommended Coron Underwater Garden Resort. It's a 15 minute boat ride away from the main town and located on an island called Baquit Island.

The Resort

It's called an underwater garden because there are beautiful corals surrounding the resort. Guests can kayak or snorkel to see them up close.

They have six types of rooms depending on the number of pax. The room rates start at Php3,900 for two pax. We stayed in the Sea View Double good for four pax and our room had a balcony that over looked the water. It was the perfect spot to watch the sunrise or sunset.

The Restaurant

The resort has an in-house restaurant that serves Filipino comfort food. My personal favorites were the squid and the seafood. They also have Western dishes like brick oven pizza and pasta.

Activities/ Tours
When in Coron, you HAVE to go on their tours. Most of the resorts are in town and not beach front. If you want to see the famous Coron beaches that everyone raves about, you have to embark on their island hopping tours. From the main port, the boat will take you to the most raw and untouched beaches where there's nothing but white sand and nipa huts. There's a lot to see so most of the tours only stay for an hour max per island. If you really want to be able to just relax and unwind, I suggest you hire a private boat. We only had a day to spare and since it was Trina and Jessi's first time in Coron, I wanted them to see as much as possible. You can check here to see the details of the tours. We did the Coron Ultimate Tour which highlights seven of the best sites.

Kayangan Lake

Barracuda Lake

Aside from the islands, Coron has a zoo called Calauit Island National Park where they have giraffes and zebras. This was the tour I was most excited for because I love animals. It's on my bucket list to go to Africa and this experience was the closest thing to that dream of mine. For now!

Thank you Coron Underwater Garden Resort for the accommodation. For inquiries, kindly message them at (0917) 962425 or through their Facebook page here.

I'm currently packing for my next travel. Any guesses where I'm heading to?
